Kelly Ejnes, DVM

Dr. Kelly Marie Ejnes is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian with a primary focus in avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery. She has extensive experience treating a wide range of species and nontraditional pets, including reptiles, birds, small mammals, amphibians, and zoo animals. She graduated from Eckerd College in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus in Animal Behavior Research. After a few years of working at various veterinary clinics and zoological facilities, Dr. Kelly enrolled at St. George’s University in 2018. She completed her clinical year at the University of Florida in 2022.

Thanks to her time in school, Dr Kelly has relationships with several conservation groups, where she has studied and expanded her exotic animal education. Some examples are the Brevard Zoo, the Sea Turtle Healing Center, the Lemur Conservation Foundation, the South Florida Wildlife Center, and the Wildlife Rescue Coalition of Northeast Florida. Since joining FloridaWild in 2022, she has focused her skills and continuing education in diagnostics, surgery, dental, and emergency, and preventive care for exotic pets.

Outside of the clinic, Dr Kelly dedicates a lot of time to continuing education and has active memberships in various specialized associations, such as the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians, and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.

These memberships allow her to access a wealth of knowledge, participate in discussions with other experts in the field, attend conferences and seminars, and gain insights into the latest research and treatment protocols. This ensures that she remains current with the most advanced techniques and best practices, which she can then apply to the benefit of her feathered, scaled, and furry patients.

Dr.Kelly is a passionate advocate for conservation and wildlife preservation. As the head of the native wildlife program at FloridaWild, she plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of injured and orphaned native Florida wildlife. Dr. Kelly works closely with FWC-certified rehabbers, which allows her to provide the necessary care to help native species begin healing, regain strength, and be released back into their native environment.

While Dr. Kelly has a focus in avian and exotic animal medicine, she also has a strong passion for canine and feline urgent care, as well as preventative medicine.

Some of her other passions range from renaissance fairs, horror conventions, antiquing, hiking and camping. She has two adorable Florida White rabbits named Sora and Roxas and two cats named Sammy and Gus. Lastly, her chihuahua, Penny, offers a lively energy that fills everyone with joy!
