Dr. Lisa Mason was born and raised in Duluth, Georgia. She completed her bachelor of science in environmental studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 2004. She worked as an environmental educator and wildlife technician at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA rehabilitating injured raptors and reptiles. It was during this experience that she developed a love of avian and reptile medicine.
In 2008 she was accepted to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, AL. While at Auburn, Dr. Mason volunteered and worked at the Southeastern Raptor Center again rehabilitating injured raptors. She completed an externship with renowned avian veterinarian Dr. Thomas Tully and zoo and reptile veterinarian Dr. Javier Nevarez at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. To continue her interest in avian and exotic medicine she completed her preceptorship at FloridaWild with Dr. Holder and assisted with the wildlife and shelter pet cases until her graduation in May 2012 from Auburn with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
After veterinary school, Dr. Mason helped Dr. Holder at FloridaWild as a relief veterinarian then moved back to her home town and worked at Suwanee Animal Hospital for a year, before returning to the FloridaWild family.
Dr. Mason is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist from the Chi Institute. She is pleased to offer her knowledge and skills of physical therapy and acupuncture to her patients.

Dr. Mason enjoys spending time with her 3 rescue dogs, Mingus, Clyde, and Timmy and her European Starling, Sassy. In her free time she enjoys walking her dogs, jogging, reading, biking, and spending time with her friends and family.
FloridaWild has been the most perfect fit for me as a veterinarian. I am very passionate about my patients and FloridaWild clients are wonderfully caring individuals who have their pets’ best interest in mind. I love coming to work not sure of what I will be doing today: working with wildlife, spaying and neutering rescue animals, performing Canine Rehabilitation, or seeing a new puppy join an existing client’s family. My job as a Veterinarian at FloridaWild Veterinary Hospital is the best job I could have. –Dr. Lisa Mason
